A stinging attack on the X Factor

X Factor has produced a mixed bag of winners in the past. Some have been truly talented whereas others have merely been overexcited pub singers.

But now, Sting has shown his disapproval of Simon Cowell’s beloved talent show by saying that his show is full of karaoke singers. Sting has said that the talent show has put music back decades. He also said that the judges on the programme are more interested in their own careers than their artists’ and that they have no real talent.

Sting concluded his attack on Simon Cowell by stating that singers should learn their trade the old fashioned way; by singing in pubs and clubs.

Listening to music not made easy

MSN Music has added free music streaming to its services. But there have been a few teething problems with the service. It only works in your browser if it’s Internet Explorer or Firefox and only on a PC. If you have a Mac, then you won’t be able to use it.

If you’re using it with Firefox 2 there is also an additional problem in that you have to install a Windows Media player plug-in. This means that if you use Mozilla’s browser at work, you may not be able to use the application. And this was one of the reasons that people were so excited about MSN music – because it was an alternative to Spotify at work.

Perhaps MSN are planning to update their music application.

Does music promote crime?

I often here on the news and by the older generation that types of music these days generate violence but what do you think?

To be honest i listen to most music from rap right down to indie and i have to say i don’t feel like causing violence or crime when listening. I do agree however that some music can lift your spirits as well as some putting you in a mellow state.

But back to the crime and music personally i don’t think they are connected yeah you here rappers talking about being shot or beating people up but that shouldn’t mean you follow fashion everyone is their own person and make their decisions them self’s don’t blame the music.

Sugar Babes to Re-name Group

After a few weeks of controversy and drama within the group with leaks in the papers that Amelle was leaving the group after a bust up and was to be replaced by Jade Ewen an unusual turn of events has now occurred.

It was reported by Keisha herself on her Twitter page that she has left. But she states it wasn’t her choice to leave.

Making people think that she was forced to leave by management after many people have said she is a bully. It’s not the end for Keisha who has been offered a solo recording contract but will be interesting to see how things work out.

May be its time for the current band to re-name with the last original member finally leaving crnt really use the same name can they?

Kanye West say’s Sorry!

Rap star Kanye West has said sorry for interrupting the acceptance speech of singer Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony in New York.

The musician stormed the stage to tell the audience Beyonce should have won best female video prize.

Now that was a harsh thing to do if you ask me and then again who asked for his opinion because I no one else did,

West wanted to take the opportunity to speak to the public. Saying his day had been “extremely difficult,” West acknowledged he had spent the afternoon “dealing with the fact that I hurt someone or took anything away from a talented artist.”

Kanye has worked none stop since his mother died and many are thinking that this is the backlash and that he should take some time out.

Glasgow host the Mobo’s

One of the world’s most prestigious music ceremonies, the MOBO Awards, will be held outside of London for the first time this year and will be staged at Glasgow’s Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre  on September 30th 2009.

Hosting the iconic awards will see Scotland welcome an entourage of A-List musicians and celebrities as well as thousands of music fans and will reinforce Glasgow’s reputation as a world class destination for hosting music events and emphasise its status as an UNESCO City of Music.

Organizers are sure to be making every effort to attract major stars to an event that often lacks the big hitters.

God First, Family Second & Career Third

For more than 30 years, Joel Smith has been serenading the music and gospel music industry with his own laid back, in the pocket, lock, grove and bottom musical style. Born in Oakland, California, the eldest of 5, Joel has ministered to many with his God given “Talent of Music”. His mother, Feddie Hawkins-Smith (sister of Bishop Walter Hawkins and Edwin Hawkins) and father, Elvis Smith, knew something was special about their son, Joel. He was always getting in trouble for hitting everything with butter knives and sneaking tree branches (as drumsticks) in the house because of his uncontrollable urge to play beats in his room upon his Tonka trucks and other toys. At church, his mother was not able to keep Joel still, because he had to be with the musicians and on the organ with his uncle Walter.

Bishop Walter Hawkins, Edwin Hawkins, and Daniel Hawkins were the first musical influences in Joel’s life. His uncles nurtured the “talent”, God had placed in him. They took Joel around with them everywhere they went. Another very important influence in Joel’s life, was Carl Lockett, famous electric guitar player and stepfather. At the age of 12, Joel discovered that he could play electric bass as well. Joel started his professional career at the tender age of 13 when he appeared on Edwin Hawkins, Grammy Winning “Wonderful” album. Some of Joel’s other musical influences included, Chuck Rainey, Anthony Jackson, Gaylord Birch, Eddie Bayers, Verdine White and Rusty Allen.

When Joel was 42 years, God blessed Joel with a family. He met his wife, Alicia Bradford, in 1996 while they were both recording in the studio, and married her 5 years later, after seeing her only, that one time. Joel Jayden Jr. was born in 2002 and has made his life complete. Being a father of 4; Harwell Lang, TiAna Hester, DeShaun Hester and Joel Jayden-Errell Smith Jr. (3 step-children and 1 biological).

Joel places an emphasis, and leads by example of how a Godly home should be. Blessed with musical talents, God has added the Ministry of Marriage to his plate. Joel says, “Keeping these priorities in perspective and in this order, you can’t go wrong”.One of The Smith’s Family scriptures is Matthew 6; 25-34.
